Been a little while since my last blog. Since this is new to me, I mean I’ve never even read blogs to know what they are even about. Shoot, I don’t even know the vocabulary, so I’m kinda going about this blindly. From what I can take away, it a place to blow off some steam or simply let you know what goes on in my life.
Alright, the competition plans for the year have been decided as of today. I started working with Hany Rambod for the first time this year. He has been working with a good friend of mine, Bill Wilmore, and he has been trying to get me to work with him for a few years now. Well, after last years Nationals 10th place, I decided it was time to s–t or get off the pot. As fate would have it, after eating at the Cheesecake Factory after the night show, my wife and I were leaving and out front on his cell was Hany. We stopped and spoke with him briefly and he told me to contact him when I got home. We ran through some things and he agreed to take me on as a client. Needless to say, his tract record is impeccable. He has helped many amateurs make that jump to the pro level. I’m counting on him helping me tweak my body and finally finish in the first spot. It’s been hit or miss these last few years and time is slipping away, so it’s time to give it everything I’ve got and see where the chips may fall.
I’m very excited as to what this year will bring. We have already ramped up the training and I’m more focused on offseason diet more than ever and even doing cardio. I hate doing cardio in the offseason. I guess it is so forced feed down my throat that I can’t stand one more minute once the show is over. I’ll be giving all of the details as things get going. It is still 31 1/2 weeks away, so the fun stuff has yet to begin. For now, the goal is to bring up the upper body, with the obvious focus on the arms.
But, for now, it’s the offseason and the time to slack on the diet a little bit. So I must recommend anyone who lives in the south Florida area or when in the area, hit a place called Cancun in Miami Lakes. Now I’m the only gringo (white man) in the place, but being with my Cuban wife I can get away with it. Their margaritas are off the chain. They will make you do things you laugh about in the morning. My wife and I went there and let me tell you, all you need is one because they are a full blender of mix. I’m not kidding. I saw them make it for the first time and it was a blender full of margarita. They pour it into a giant glass and down it goes. Then the head starts spinning and you are feeling GREAT. Then you drive home slowly and the fun begins. The unconsciousness sets in and you don’t wake until morning with a mouth full of what feels like cotton. I recommend the mango. The food isn’t bad either, but it’s the margaritas that rock.
Just another quick note, this one more of the ranting type. Being that summer is coming, people are trying to get in shape and let me tell you, people are getting dumber by the minute. I’ve been training for over 18 years and I remember people used to be real serious, but it seems people are just lazy. I used to hear “what can I do to get in shape”, now you just hear “what can I take to get in shape”, as if there is a magic pill we can all take and poof, we are all cover models. Nobody wants to work any more.
Another thing that bugs me is the organic eaters who feel they are eating low-fat. I think eating organic is great, but when people think eating organically helps them lose weight, my response is that they’ll be fat, just now organically fat.
Well, hope I’ve made up for the days I’ve missed. Night night for now, unless your Christine, then you’ll be up with the vampires. Go to bed girl.
